Why Do Nose Hairs, Which Are Not Even Noticeable When You Are a Child, Start to Multiply As You Get Older?

If you have noticed in front of the mirror, nose hair begins to increase as you get older. While a child does not have such a noticeable hair inside his nose, why does the same not apply to adults?

Moreover, the proportion of hair is directly proportional to aging.

So what is the truth of this matter?

The increase in nose hair as we get older is due to the natural effects of aging as well as hormonal changes.

As we get older, the hormone balance in the body changes. Especially in men, male hormones called androgens play an important role in the growth of nose hair. As testosterone levels decrease with age, the effect of DHT, a byproduct of testosterone, increases.

DHT stimulates hair follicles, especially in the facial area. This stimulation causes hair to thicken and grow in some areas, such as nose hair. Hair follicles in the nose and ear area are more sensitive to DHT than other body areas. Due to increased sensitivity to DHT with aging, the growth process of hair in these areas also accelerates.

Hair follicles work in three stages: anagen (growth), catagen (stopping) and telogen (rest).

When you are young, the hair cycle is more regular and balanced. However, as we get older, changes occur in this cycle. As we get older, the hair in the nose and ear area can remain in the growth phase for longer. This causes the hair to grow faster and become thicker.

Of course, the skin loses its elasticity as we age. This change also causes the hairs to become more visible.

In addition to all these reasons, genetic factors also come into play. This being the case, it is quite normal for these hairs to grow and multiply as you get older.
