Why Are There No Glass in the Doors of Dishwashers?

Dishwashers and washing machines are two inventions that make our lives much easier. The main purpose of both is a fast and economical cleaning. However, there is a difference between them. While there is glass in the covers of washing machines, it is not in the dishwashers. So what's the reason for this?

READING NOW Why Are There No Glass in the Doors of Dishwashers?

In our previous content, we talked about the glasses on the covers of washing machines. This glass was of great importance for better cleaning and longevity of the machine. Of course, there are also machines that are specially produced with glass, but the covers of dishwashers are usually produced without glass.

In fact, the main reason here is again related to the working logic and efficient operation of the machine. Then, cost calculations come into play. Let’s take a look at why there is no glass in dishwashers.

The first dishwashers entered our lives in 1850. The fact that it offers the opportunity to wash the dishes left over from the meals more quickly and economically has made it one of the indispensables of our lives. Of course, many improvements have been made in the intervening years, such as increasing the volume of the machines and the water savings they provide.

So how do dishwashers work?

Dishwashers actually have a simple working principle. The dirt on the dishes is cleaned with the help of detergent and the dirt-dissolving enzymes in it. The machine sprays the detergent taken from the detergent reservoir and the water heated by the rotating water jets on the dishes with a high pressure.

Now let’s get back to our main point. Why don’t dishwashers have a glass?

The first reason is the cost of production

The first reason for this is based on the working principle we explained above. The glass, which is designed as concave in washing machines, prevents the laundry from getting stuck and contributes to cleanliness. However, this does not apply to dishwashers. In other words, if there were glass in the dishwashers, it would not work, and it would be an unnecessary element that increases the cost. However, if the dishwasher was to have a glass door, it would have to be high-temperature resistant and leak-proof, which meant more cost. Companies that want to reduce their costs as much as possible, therefore, do not prefer to put glass in their dishwashers.

The second reason is visual pollution.

Another reason is that people want a product to appear in their kitchens, where they spend a lot of time, to look as stylish and neat as possible. Who wants to watch an image with a lot of dirt and food scraps in it? If you look at the recent dishwasher designs, let alone the glass, you may notice that it is much more decorative.

However, if there were glass in the dishwashers, the dirt and residues spilled on the glass while placing the dishes in the machine would also cause a bad appearance and also make the cleaning of the machine difficult.

Dishwashers would be noisier if there was glass

Dishwashers are very noisy appliances. When we think that the water spray speeds are up to 150 km / h, the sound works also sound normal. Manufacturers use insulation materials in the outer structure of the machines to prevent this. If there was a glass in the machine cover, it would cause less sound insulation and the machine would run noisier.
