When smartphones started to become popular in 2010, every company was introducing unique models with different features by pressing every button, so to speak. In this regard, we have seen quite a variety of models from the likes of HTC, LG, Samsung and Apple. What did not change at this time was the number of cameras.

We have seen this change over the years and the number of cameras increasing. Although many people say that this is unnecessary and not aesthetic, the situation has recently reached very different points. Because, as those who watched our previous videos will know, the decorative cameras used in fake phones have now started to be added by the manufacturer. While manufacturers are taking such strange steps when it comes to cameras, let’s talk about why these sensors are important.

Why do they use 3-4 average sensors instead of making one solid sensor?

Smartphones have moved away from being devices we just call “Hello” to, as they were 20 years ago, and have become small computers in our pockets. This enabled us to fit many tools into these devices.

Need to do the math? You don’t need to carry a calculator, you can open the application from your phone in seconds. Need to take photos? You don’t need to wander around with lenses and a camera as well. You can open the camera application on your phone and take photos.

Of course, if you say “everyday photos will not save me, they have to be of high quality”, that is different.

Because, as we mentioned before, the main focus of smartphones is to offer you a lot of tools in a compact device, in one place. You may have a sensor in your device that provides a very solid image, but this sensor loses its function as soon as you need a wide-angle lens. The same goes for macro shooting. By presenting these to the user in one place, manufacturers aim to provide solutions to different needs.

In addition, not every camera we see on the back can take photos. Some of them have a depth sensor to give the bokeh (depth) effect more realistically, while in some of them, photos taken with different exposures enable high dynamic range (HDR) to be obtained.

Apart from this, additional cameras can also function as telephoto lenses. This makes it possible to zoom the image up to a certain extent without losing quality and detail.

For those who do not like these lenses, Xiaomi’s concept phone is perfect for them.

Because different lenses can be attached to the camera of this device, the device can adapt to every scenario professionally instead of giving average performance in different scenarios. Of course, this does not change the fact that it is a very large camera platform.

This has been tried before with devices such as the Galaxy S4 Zoom with the idea of ”one good camera”. However, obstacles such as the weight of the device, the lack of protection of the camera, poor ergonomics and battery problems prevented the device from selling much more.

Multiple cameras have at least one feature. Well, what is a “decorative camera”?

Those who have viewed our old fake phone videos will know that such devices appear to have multiple cameras, just like the originals. However, when we opened it and looked inside, we would see that there was nothing behind the plastic lens, it was only for visual purposes. This situation, which we encounter with fake phones, recently appeared with Reeder devices.

The company also sent a warning to Turhan Bozkurt, who shot the video, after the cameras were seen in this way. When the original version of the device, which was said to have 3 cameras on the back, was revealed, the company added the following statement to the device page:

“The device uses a 5MP camera first and an 8MP camera on the back. There are 2 ornamental cameras on the rear camera case. “These do not have any function.”

What are your thoughts on this subject?
