Elon Musk recently said that he can step down as CEO by vote of users, but he is still at the head of Twitter. So, if someone will replace him, who will it be? Here are the names best suited for the Twitter CEO position:

Who will be Twitter CEO?

Musk said that after finding Twitter’s new CEO, he would manage the software and server teams; which basically means running the entire company. Musk will leave the CEO position sooner or later. So who will replace him? Here are the nominees:

Sheryl Sandberg – Former Meta COO

It is said that if Musk continues to lead the engineering team after appointing a new CEO to Twitter, Sheryl Sandberg will replace him. Sandberg has the rep for the advertisers and connections Musk will need for the company to grow, and he left Meta last year and is currently out of business.

Emmett Shear – CEO and co-founder of Twitch

Emmett Shear, Twitch’s co-founder and current CEO, has successfully sold the social media company to a tech giant and has the experience Musk will need for his plan to transform Twitter into more of a video platform for creators. However, Shear has no experience running a public company. Musk plans to take Twitter back to the public in a few years. On the other hand, Twitch could not go beyond a platform where players broadcast live.

Vanessa Pappas – COO of TikTok

Vanessa Pappas has the experience Musk needs, first helping keep YouTube’s original content creation program afloat and most recently TikTok’s COO. It’s rumored that Pappas is considering leaving TikTok, she. Musk is looking for someone to lead Twitter, who mainly knows the big advertisers. Pappas may not be the best choice for Musk as he focuses on products and manufacturers.

Jim Lanzone – CEO of Yahoo

Jim Lanzone is a short-time manager of Tinder, mostly interested in media and advertising. The name currently leading Yahoo has operational experience and links to the advertising community that Musk can use. It’s unclear whether Lanzone wants to work for Musk, however.

Kevin Systrom – co-founder of Instagram

Instagram co-founder and former CEO Kevin Systrom is one of the top choices. He has remained silent since leaving Instagram/Facebook in 2018 after a disagreement with Mark Zuckerberg. Last year, on Lex Fridman’s podcast, he mentioned his interest in the TikTok social media model (separating stream recommendations from the user’s social graph); that is exactly what Musk wants to focus on.

Names such as Adam Bain, Susan Wojcicki, Sarah Friar, Kayvon Beykpour and Kevin Weil are also spoken for as Twitter CEO.
