READING NOW Who is left of the old jailbreakers? Tesla software is cracked!

Remember the broken PlayStation 3 models? As pirates, they included all the games produced for the PlayStation 3. Then there was the jailbreaking crew that emerged so that all the features of Android devices can be used comfortably and as desired. This business eventually extended to automobiles. A group of researchers infiltrated Tesla’s software and unlocked paid features. Here are Tesla cars jailbreak and details…

Paid Tesla features are now free! Here are the details…

A group of researchers has found a way to hack the hardware that underpins Tesla’s infotainment system. In this way, it paved the way for the free of charge equipment such as the rear seat heating feature, which is offered for a fee. Doing so essentially indicates that researchers have found a way to jailbreak Tesla.

The researchers described their process in an interview with TechCrunch. Accordingly, this process also gives the ability to activate the autonomous driving and navigation system in areas that are not normally available. However, the issue of how secure this is is still being debated, and the team states that doing this requires serious reverse engineering and has not yet tried this feature.

Christian Werling, one of three students conducting the independent research in Germany, said their attack required physical access to the vehicle, but that’s exactly the scenario where jailbreak would be useful. In other words, any Tesla that can be physically accessed can be jailbroken with the new method the team has found, so that paid features can be opened easily. So what is this method?

In fact, the team notes that it’s pretty simple. Werling explained that what they were doing was playing with the supply voltage of the AMD processor running the infotainment system. In other words, the team played with the electric current coming to the AMD processor, which manages the infotainment system, at certain rates, and an irregular current was sent to the processor. Thus, they kind of deceived the processor and manipulated the processor with their own code.
