In the statements made by the World Health Organization today, the vaccine named Covovax, also known as NVX-CoV2373, which is produced by the Indian Serum Institute under the license of the US pharmaceutical company ‘Novavax’, announced that it has been approved for emergency use. In addition, it was emphasized that more people should be vaccinated and that efforts to vaccinate low-income countries should be increased.

Vaccination of people in these countries is of great importance for the course of the epidemic.

In addition, with this decision, the number of vaccines approved by WHO has increased to 9. The Geneva-based organization first approved the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine in December 2020. Apart from this, AstraZeneca has also approved vaccines such as Moderna, Jannsen, Sinopharm and Sinovac. In addition, WHO announced at the beginning of last November that it had given emergency use approval for an Indian vaccine called Covaxin.
