A website called Compare the Market in England has designed a calculator that reveals how much carbon emissions are caused when using social media and websites. This tool, which can calculate on applications such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Twitch, LinkedIn, TikTok, Reddit and Snapchat, draws a result depending on how much time you spend on these platforms per day.
The website lists TikTok as the platform that causes the most carbon emissions, followed by Reddit and Pinterest. While Instagram ranks 4th on the list, Facebook ranks 6th and YouTube 10th.
On the website, which you can access right here, you can see how much carbon you have caused by entering the time you spent on these platforms.
