On August 18, 2020, Microsoft restarted a big game series after a long hiatus. Of course, the series in question is Microsoft Flight Simulator, which was developed and continues to be developed by Asobo Studio. To celebrate its third anniversary, the company has released some interesting statistics since the game was released.
The team shared the statistics in the form of an infographic. Here are some of the most interesting statistics included in the posts:
- By number of flights by players, the Cessna 152 is the most popular aircraft in the game, followed by the Airbus A32ONE0 and Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet.
- Players in the game have flown over 70 billion kilometers with 711 million flights to date.
- The most popular airport in the game is Los Angeles International Airport, followed by John F Kennedy International Airport in New York and London Heathrow Airport.
The game’s development team has a long list of updates planned for the next few months. The roadmap also includes Sim Update 13, the game’s next major update, which is currently in beta testing and is scheduled for release in mid-September.
Of course, the big news is that last June, Asobo Studio and Microsoft officially announced the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 sequel. The sequel will feature different pilot professions with their own unique missions. We’ll also see more, along with a host of graphical and in-game physics improvements. Meanwhile, the current game will continue to be supported even after the sequel is released.
