CIRP has shared new Apple-focused research. In its new research, the company examined which iPhone color is the most popular for the new iPhone 14 models. In this study, CIRP asked iPhone owners which version and color they chose for the holiday season.
In the past, although most people stick to black or white iPhone models, Apple is guiding its users towards different options. The company offers different colors instead of the traditional black-and-white duo, and Apple no longer even sells a black iPhone, as the classic Midnight color is almost dark blue.
Still, even iPhone Pro owners who often choose between gray, silver, or gold are seeing at least one new color option in each series: Midnight Green, Midnight Blue, Sierra Blue, Alpine, Graphite and finally Deep Purple.
According to the results of the research, an impressive 42% of iPhone 14 Pro owners chose Dark Purple this holiday season. Although graphite is another new color, it was chosen by 23% of users, remaining in third place. In second place is the Golden iPhone, chosen by 24% of users.
Most users who bought the iPhone 14 models chose the new Blue color, which is very similar to the Sierra Blue of the iPhone 13 Pro. This was followed by Midnight (26%), Purple (22%), PRODUCT(RED) (14%) and Starlight (12%).
Interestingly, customers opted for more traditional colors for the new iPhone SE 3, iPhone 13 models and iPhone 12 this holiday season. For example, 62% of customers preferred the Midnight iPhone SE 3, 38% preferred the Midnight iPhone 13, and 56% preferred the Black iPhone 12.
As CIRP points out, different color preferences between the new models and other iPhones can mean a few things. Apple’s “aggressive introduction of the new purple iPhone 14/Plus and 14 Pro/Max models” may be one reason why so many people choose these colors. Also, as many customers purchase their iPhones from carriers, older versions may have more limited access to “fun colors”, which may explain why the Midnight/Black color options are so popular.
