Statcounter’s February 2023 report has been released, showing the latest situation in the browser market. The most interesting change in data seems to risk losing Microsoft Edge’s “second most popular desktop browser” title to Apple’s Safari.
According to Statcounter’s desktop browsers report, in February 2023 Google Chrome reached 66.12% market share. This enormous rate represents a decrease of only 0.29 points compared to January 2023.
Microsoft Edge is second with 10.84% (-0.24) and Apple Safari is third with 10.14% (+0.83). While Microsoft Edge used to have a secure distinction between its macOS rival, Safari now seems to be catching up.
Firefox doesn’t seem to surpass any browser anytime soon, as it has a further 6.84% share (-0.03). Finally, Opera completes the list of top 5 desktop browsers with 3.21% (-0.2):

On the mobile side, there is no significant change. Google Chrome and Apple Safari share almost 90% of the market, with Samsung Internet, Opera, UC Browser and other less popular options making up the rest of the list. Unfortunately, Microsoft Edge has too little to feature in Statcounter’s indicators, and integrating AI-powered “Bing in Edge” into Android and iOS is unlikely to help change the situation.
