Former PlayStation President Shuhei Yoshida shared his ideas on when the next major console, the PS6, could be released. Considering the increasingly prolonged console generations compared to Yoshida, the PS6 is expected to be released in 2028.
In an interview with Gamesbeat, Yoshida pointed out that the response in the middle of the console generations is prolonged and that the production process of the PS5 was affected by the pandem.
We will see PS6 at the earliest 2028
Yoshida also referred to Microsoft’s leaked “2028 plan” and said that the new Xbox console can be released on a similar date.
Referring to the fluctuations in the game industry, Yoshida said that COVİD-19 triggered many recruitment and subsequent dismissal in recent years.
On the other hand, the prolongation of the period in the midst of the console generations in the game world is also seen in Nintendo’s Switch 2 console after eight years. For now, compared to Yoshida’s claim, PS5 users can enjoy their consoles for a few more years.
