Famous Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo added a new one to the claims he made about the iPhone. But this time it’s not about the iPhone 14. According to Kuo, in 2024 we may see a new iPhone with a complete (no notch or hole) screen.
Kuo says that by then Apple might be happy to move both its front-facing camera and Face ID below the display for high-end devices, making the iPhone 16 Pro a possible first candidate for such an upgrade. says.
This prediction, which emerged in a couple of tweets by Kuo, also connects with comments that say it is unlikely that new iPhones with under-display fingerprint readers will be released within two years. In Kuo’s thinking, the growing demand for a return to Touch ID was mostly a response to the rise of mask-wearing. However, Apple released an update to Face ID earlier this year that made it work better with masks. This resulted in the disappearance of most of the complaints.
Face ID being usable with a mask largely eliminates the need for Touch ID. But the big question here is when will Apple start using an under-display camera for Face ID. Although the technology is developing rapidly, we still have not seen a completely smooth under-screen camera. While the currently available under-display cameras are largely usable, they do not offer the high quality typical of the iPhone series. Therefore, it can be predicted that Apple will wait for much more improvement to use this technology, as it has done with other technologies in the past.
