WhatsApp has implemented an important feature so that the lost messages that users receive are not lost. An option called Keep in Chat has been introduced, designed to prevent a disappearing message from being lost.

In order to keep an incoming disappearing message in the chat thread, it is necessary to long press this message. However, when you use this option, the sender of the message will be notified and will make the final decision on whether to keep the message in the chat. If he doesn’t agree to keep the message, the message will disappear as usual when the timer runs out.

A bookmark icon will appear next to protected messages. You have access to all your saved messages in a Stored Messages folder, where they are organized by conversation. WhatsApp says it’s rolling out the feature gradually and everyone will have access to the feature in a few weeks.

This new option seems to defeat the entire purpose of disappearing messages at first glance. But WhatsApp says in a blog post that you may need to record a message with important details (like a voice note or someone’s address). It’s worth remembering, though, that when this new option is used, the sender will have the option to refuse to save the message and perhaps protect their privacy.
