WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow users to lock and hide what they want from their individual chats with biometric security such as fingerprints. Since most modern phones have some kind of biometric security feature, this feature is likely to be available to everyone.
According to a post on the WABetaInfo forum, the new feature is available in version 2.23.8.2 of the app, which is an early build currently not available to everyone. It’s a positive change to see the company come with new features and updates that address consumers’ concerns rather than cosmetic changes.
WhatsApp is the default messaging app for many, so having this extra layer of privacy will definitely benefit many people who have sensitive communications or just want some things to stay private.
As this feature is seen in the early beta version of Whatsapp, it’s unclear whether it will come to all users, so it’s best not to get too excited right now. We’ll let you know if this new privacy feature comes with a full update.
