WhatsApp has lost a lot of trust after the confidentiality agreement it had to accept its users last year. After that, small applications such as Telegram and Signal began to be called WhatsApp competitors. Therefore, as a result of the pressure brought by the competition, WhatsApp replaces the features that its competitors do not have. The new stop of this fill-in-the-blank marathon has been announced.
WhatsApp brings the poll feature to groups
The poll feature, which has been in Telegram for a long time, is especially used in large groups. Surveys are an indispensable feature, especially when we consider channels with thousands of people. While WhatsApp groups are not as wide-ranging as Telegram channels, something may need to be discussed even in groups of 50. Now you don’t have to tag everyone when you want to consult the members of the group about something.
As WABetaInfo reports, the polls feature appeared in WhatsApp’s early iOS beta. However, it is not yet possible to view this feature in WhatsApp Beta. Because the feature is still under development and users are not able to access it. Still, the shared screenshot gives us an idea:
One thing you should know about the poll feature coming to WhatsApp is that they are end-to-end encrypted. This means that your answers to the survey and the survey itself will only be visible to the group participants. Sure, one of the participants can take a screenshot of the survey or forward the message. However, let’s say that the part of the job that falls on WhatsApp is carried out safely.
If you remember, it was mentioned in the new privacy agreement of WhatsApp, which was on the agenda last year, that some data could be shared with other Meta companies. Because this feature is end-to-end encrypted, WhatsApp or Meta cannot view your responses to surveys. Rest assured, they won’t be using our answers to surveys in advertisements.
Although we do not know when the feature will arrive, we cannot be very optimistic as it is under development. It will probably be a few weeks before you see this feature on your WhatsApp.
