As reported by WABetaInfo, the latest version of WhatsApp beta, which can be downloaded from Apple TestFlight, is compatible with iPadOS. Since there was no iPadOS application before and the iPhone version was not compatible with Apple tablets, iPad users had to use the web version. Now WhatsApp will work on iPad similar to the Mac app. After scanning the QR code from the WhatsApp application, all chats will be downloaded and users will be able to send and receive messages on iPhone, iPad and Mac.
The WhatsApp iPad app will work even when the iPhone is not nearby or connected to the same WiFi network. However, WhatsApp for iPad is a companion application like the desktop version. This means you cannot create a WhatsApp account from the tablet.
It is not yet clear when WhatsApp will be released for iPad. The beta version can only be downloaded through TestFlight and no new users are accepted into the beta program.
