Following the feature of muting unknown calls, WhatsApp will introduce a new feature that will protect your IP address in calls. The new privacy option will make it harder for malicious people to guess your location in searches.

Your IP address will be protected during searches

The IP address protection option in searches adds an extra layer of security to searches by protecting users’ IP addresses and locations from malicious actors. The new option can be accessed from the advanced section on the privacy settings screen. When the option is turned on, the IP address of the people in the call will be securely transferred through WhatsApp servers and their location will be protected. However, call quality will be slightly affected due to the encryption and routing of the connection.

This feature will make it difficult to track your private information when you have a WhatsApp conversation with unknown people. The new privacy feature to protect the IP address in calls was made available to some beta testers who installed the WhatsApp beta version from the Google Play Store for Android and the TestFlight app for iOS.
