WhatsApp announced a new feature called Call Link last month. As the name suggests, this feature allows WhatsApp users to create standard or group video calls that can only be accessed with a simple link.
WhatsApp is following the footsteps of Zoom and Google Meet
This feature, which is in the testing phase, is now available for wider use. With this feature, which can host up to 32 people, the links sent can be used actively for 90 days. It is worth remembering that the call connections feature is currently only available on phones.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to open a Call Link on the WhatsApp desktop web application. When this link is clicked on WhatsApp Web, a warning appears stating that this feature is not available, and directs the user to their phone.
This feature of WhatsApp can be very useful for multiple users who want to communicate in various situations. The fact that these connections last for 90 days stands out as another advantage. The steps to use this feature are quite simple:
- Open WhatsApp on your phone
- Login to Searches
- You can send the search link to the people you want by clicking the ‘Create search link’ option at the top of the window that opens.
This feature offered by WhatsApp directly brings to mind applications such as Zoom and Google Meet. Both companies allow video calls with up to 100 participants at no extra cost. Zoom supports group calls with up to 300 people in premium options.
Both services allow you to join a call without any account. This makes Zoom and Google Meet more accessible. On the other hand, participants must have WhatsApp accounts for the WhatsApp Call connection.
WhatsApp is also taking new steps in collective conversations with its new initiative. The company will also increase the number of participants in the future. So what do you think about the Create call link feature of WhatsApp? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
