The world’s most popular messaging platform WhatsApp continues to gain new features. Aiming to increase the interaction with users with various innovations, the application has finally added the long-awaited feature of reacting to messages.
Then recently, it updated its desktop app. The software version available to beta users has been upgraded to 2. 2201.2. But according to a report that emerged today, the company has accelerated its work on the highly anticipated feature for a while.
WhatsApp is working on new drawing tools
WhatsApp is constantly adding new features to its app to deliver a safer and richer messaging experience. It also has many features still in development, including a refined voice search interface, payments with Novi integration in the US, and multi-device support.
News today revealed that WhatsApp is working on new drawing tools for images and videos on the latest beta version of Android. A total of 3 drawing pens, two of which are new, have been discovered in the application’s built-in image editor.
Icons indicate that the new pens can offer wider tips and allow you to draw and scribble thicker lines on images or videos. WhatsApp currently also allows users to change the pen color. However, there is no option to increase or decrease its thickness.
The report also states that WhatsApp has started working on a tool for blurring images for its Android app. This will make it easier to share screenshots and photos where you can blur the more sensitive parts before sending them.
In addition, there are some additional drawing tools currently in development. However, no information has been shared about them yet. In addition, it is not clear when these new vehicles will be made available to the public. However, the features still need to make their way to the beta channel before being rolled out to WhatsApp’s massive user base.
Despite a number of improvements actively developed by WhatsApp, Telegram offers a more feature-rich experience with options such as spoiler style, emoji responses, per-chat themes, screen sharing, and animated backgrounds.
That said, the messaging service owned by Meta has around two billion active users worldwide and more than five billion downloads on the Play Store alone. In contrast, Telegram’s Android app managed to hit the 1 billion mark in October 2021.
Of course, in this case, the long-term crashes of WhapsApp and Facebook in the past months were also effective. That’s why Meta develops its applications with successive updates in order to get back the users it lost to its competitors and to keep the ones it has.
