WhatsApp, the world’s largest messaging platform, aims to keep itself up-to-date against its competitors with the innovations it has been putting together for a long time. The application, which catches up late in features such as Telegram, which is among its competitors, is more pioneering, but finally gets the feature that almost all users have been waiting for. Now WhatsApp offers the message editing feature to its users.
WhatsApp will now allow editing messages!
Earlier this week, WhatsApp rolled out the edit button with the latest beta of WhatsApp Web. Now, according to WABetaInfo, it’s time for the Android beta application. With the new message editing option, you will be able to edit your typos or the messages you want to change completely.
To change your texts, long press the message and then tap the three dots at the top. You will see the new edit button in the menu that appears. Everyone in the chat will see the “edited” badge next to the message so they can tell if the text has been changed. Also, the editing time is 15 minutes, so you have limited time to edit the message.
While this time limit was set to make sure people didn’t edit messages weeks or months ago, the message deletion feature also had a 15-minute time limit. Later, this period was changed to two days. Therefore, WhatsApp can apply a similar scenario in the message editing part.
In addition, in cases where 2 separate devices are connected via WhatsApp Companion (Companion mode), the message sent by one device cannot be changed from the other device. You can test the feature with WhatsApp beta v2.23.10.13 for Android.
If you are officially registered in the beta program of WhatsApp, you can get the update from the Play Store. For those who are not officially registered in the beta program, the feature is planned to come to all versions in a week or two.
