WhatApp’s latest feature is the ability to quickly send short video messages, similar to voice messages. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared a short video showing the videos sent through this feature.
According to WhatsApp’s blog post, video messages can be up to 60 seconds long and will automatically play on mute when the recipient opens it. To send a video message, it will be possible to switch to video mode by touching the existing voicemail icon.
WhatsApp has long offered the option to send videos, but the new video messaging feature takes a few steps out of the process, making it faster. Video messages seem to save your phone’s gallery from being filled with short clips, if they work the same as voice messages that only exist within WhatsApp.
WhatsApp’s blog post states that the feature will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
