This statement came after WhatsApp claims that Paragon’s spyware was targeting about 90 journalists and civil society members last week. Allegedly, these people include Italian journalist Francesco Cancellato and Libyan activist Husam al -Gomati, who lives in Sweden.

Fleming, Paragon’s service conditions clearly forbids the illegal targeting journalists and civil society figures, and if such a violation is detected, they will immediately terminate the customer relationship. However, questions about whether Paragon has explored WhatsApp’s allegations or whether he had cut off his relationship with the customer due to such a violation.

WhatsApp announced last Friday that he sent an official warning to Paragon, while company officials refrained to comment on this issue.

Paragon’s US relationship is not new

Paragon’s collaboration with the US government is not a new development. Last year, Wired reported that Paragon had signed an agreement of $ 2 million with the US Immigration and Customs Protection (ICE) unit. In addition, the US -based private capital company AE Industrial offers the proposal to buy Paragon for about $ 900 million. Company officials remain silent in this regard.

Israel -based YnetNtenws claimed that Italy was among Paragon’s customers. However, this information has not yet been confirmed by other sources.

Allegedly, the target of Italian journalist Francesco Cancellato may be linked to the research news published on the news site Fanpage.it. Cancellato and his team revealed that some members of the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s party’s youth branch shouting pro -Nazi and Mussolini slogans and using racist expressions.

On the other hand, the Libyan activist Husam El Gomati, who lives in Sweden, is known for its criticism of Italy to stop immigrants with Libya. This increases question marks that Paragon’s spyware is used to monitor certain political and strategic goals.
