Popular messaging app WhatsApp has recently switched to Material You design for some Android devices. The application, which continues to develop itself, recently announced its new security center.Here are the new security features:
WhatsApp, which has more than one billion active users worldwide, has also become a frequent destination for fraudsters. Especially recently, scams such as calls from unknown numbers and job opportunities have increased. In the face of this situation, the features brought by WhatsApp, which announced new security features:
- Privacy by default: No one can find your phone number or read your private messages.
- Automatic spam detection: WhatsApp detects and removes most spam and scam accounts before they reach you or report them.
- Advanced security alerts: WhatsApp prompts you to authenticate the user if any suspicious or unauthorized attempt is made to take over the account.
- Two-step verification: A secret PIN to prevent someone from stealing your account and never share it with anyone.
- Keep the group safe: Control who can add you to and join your groups, and remove members or messages as needed.
- You can report problematic behavior.
- You can learn to detect fraud.
- You can recover your account.
In addition to these, WhatsApp has announced a new feature that will allow you to lock the chats of your choice. Thanks to this feature, a tab called locked chats will appear above the archived chats on the main page of WhatsApp, as in the image above. Locked chats will only be accessible with your device’s password or biometric information such as fingerprint.
