Human flesh contains a type of protein called prion. This protein interacts with other proteins, transforming them into itself, and disrupts the structure of the other protein with a series of chain reactions.

Prion disease causes holes in the brain, just like in a sponge.

Scientists who observed the laughing disease “Kuru” in a tribe in Africa in the 1950s that ate human flesh revealed that the cause was a prion disease caused by cannibalism.
