For many years, even centuries ago, when technology was not yet developed, people somehow continued to live their lives. Today, however, we need technology to survive. For this reason, it is not possible for us to continue our lives as in the absence of technology.
In today’s content, we will set out in a fictional world where technology suddenly disappears and no one knows what mobile phones, televisions or computers mean. Maybe in this way, we can once again understand how connected we are to technology and how great the power we have. Imagine all technology and everything made with those technologies disappear. So much so that those who were phone manufacturers before this event did not even know what a phone was. So it doesn’t seem possible to make new ones. At least for now…
The content you will read a little later takes place in a hypothetical world told through a story. Artificial intelligence programs Midjourney and Dall-E were used for all images in the content.
Technology? What was the technology?
The whole world was asleep at the same time, and everyone had woken up on the street, not even wearing clothes. So what happened while everyone was asleep? The technology was gone with everything it helped produce. This includes the houses we live in and the clothes we wear. For a while, everyone was looking for something to wear. For those living in hot regions, not having clothes was not much of a problem. However, the vast majority of those living near the poles began to freeze after the first hours. Before the end of the first day, most people living in the polar regions had died.
There was no way to hear from anyone. There was no bus, no plane, no telephone, and no one even knew the meaning of those words. People who survived the shock began to look for a solution in the middle of the chaos.
Some decided to set out to reach their loved ones, started walking. Others frantically sought shelter, clothing, and food. Some entered the caves, some began work on building a shelter for themselves. There were no forests or any trees in the big cities. Because even if they don’t remember, humanity demolished them all and built buildings in their place. Now those buildings are gone too.
Everything was very difficult. Those who dug the ground with their hands to build a shelter were constantly injured. Because his hands were not used to such hard work. Eventually, a few of them managed to build shelters.
The first day was over and the world population was continuing to decline.
Many people who were in intensive care and depend on machines died after the first day. Patients using regular medication sought medication and alternative treatment methods for a while, but the situation was getting worse. People kept losing their lives…
The situation did not look bright for healthy people either. Organic fruits and vegetables are also starting to run out. Plowing the fields was entirely up to man power. The crop was getting scarce, and the world was in complete chaos. The population has dropped to 4 billion.
The remaining territories were plundered, humanity was becoming more and more primitive.
People who accepted that they would starve and thought that they should do something started to make tools with stones and tree branches. Even sharpening a stone took hours. If they could make bows and arrows, their job would be much easier. But most of humanity could not find material to make rope.
In a very short time, hunger and thirst began to kill people. Primitive tribes were leading the world…
People who could not find clean water and food began to lose their lives towards the second week. Others tried primitive methods of hunting. Animals roamed all the city centers because the fences and barns holding them back had disappeared. Of course, predators had descended on the city as well. This made hunting even harder.
Those who could catch 1 fish or small animal a day for 2-3 days felt lucky. Because now all they could eat was animals and plants they could find in the forests. People who ate the fruits and vegetables in the forest, which they did not know, began to be poisoned. There was nothing they could do to heal them. Those who couldn’t hunt were looking for animals killed by other animals. However, it was very difficult to come across something like this. Those close to the equator were the luckiest in finding habitat, water and food.
As the days progressed, the people living in crowded places became less and less. Food was much more difficult to find in big cities and people were more dependent on technology. For this reason, people living in small areas have become guiding the whole world. Because nothing much has changed for them. Tribal life was back.
Nearly 1 billion people who were able to find food and survive were now leaping into an era.
The primitive axes, spears, and clubs they made for hunting had taken them so far. Now they needed more, they wanted to improve themselves. However, it was almost impossible to find raw materials such as iron, copper, gold and silver near the earth’s surface. Because even if they do not remember this, they have exploited all the resources close to the earth. For the raw materials that remained deeper, there was a need for construction machines that they did not even remember their names and did not know what they looked like. So the iron age may never come again. But they don’t realize it yet.
With divisions of labor, they hunted like tribes every day, prepared food and prepared their shelters for the winter, which would be colder than before. Because this winter, they would not have natural gas or air conditioners. They gave various shapes to stones and trees and developed new tools. The invention of the ‘wheel’, which is seen as the first step of technology, took place exactly 100 years later.
In all this time, good things were happening, too. For example, the effects of global warming have decreased.
With the decrease in harmful gases and chemicals released into nature, nature began to renew itself. Now the seas were clearer, the air was cleaner. As a result of this, people began to see animals they had never seen before, and they inhaled cleaner air than they had ever smelled.
But even after 200 years they still couldn’t make even a small nail.
Humanity developed under primitive conditions. But they still didn’t have access to the most important materials needed to make their huge machines, even small household appliances. Humanity, which could not even make a nail, developed alternative methods. They started using stones as nails by sharpening trees. Of course, these materials were not as strong as iron and steel. For this reason, it was never possible for them to reach the raw materials underground. And the iron age never came again…
Of course, this fictional world, which we tell by storytelling throughout our content, also has historical bases. For example, when raw materials such as iron were first discovered by humanity, it is estimated that these materials were close to the earth. Today, you can guess that we have exhausted all the resources close to the earth. For this reason, humanity will hardly develop again without technology and without knowing anything about technology.
