Less than 2 months before WWDC 2023, a new leak from Twitter account @analyst941 sheds light on some of the iOS 17 features iPhone users are looking forward to. The information we have obtained so far shows that the update to be released will be more interesting than expected.
Apple’s initial plan for iOS 17 was to focus on overall system improvements and performance improvements. This is similar to the strategy Apple has followed in the past with Snow Leopard for macOS. Recently, however, Bloomberg states that Apple’s planned feature set with iOS 17 has expanded to include several user-requested features.
iOS 17 hope for iPhone 8 and iPhone X
According to new information, iOS 17 will work on all iPhone models that support iOS 16. So if you’re using an older iPhone and running iOS 16, you don’t have to worry about being left behind. More specifically, iOS 17 will run on all iPhone 8 and later devices. Previous claims were that the iPhone 8 and iPhone X would not receive iOS 17.
Also, according to leaks, Dynamic Island will now include more functionality. This is particularly exciting and intriguing.
Advanced search
iOS 17 will also introduce much more advanced search functionality, which is long overdue given the current state of search functionality in iOS. There are also rumors that some changes will be made to the UI of iOS 17’s Camera app. Admittedly, specific details on this matter are scarce. But given how often people use the Camera app, it will be interesting to see what Apple has planned.
Some other potential iOS 17 features being worked on include dynamic widgets, new emojis, support for 3rd party app stores, a redesigned Control Center, a new UI for the Health app, Focus Mode, and improved Always On when calibrating the display. setting options and most interestingly “an absolute giant of ARKit APIs/frameworks”.
WWDC 2023 kicks off on June 5th, so we won’t have to wait long to see what iOS 17 will bring.
