Especially in the last 3 years of pandemic and quarantine process, the frequency of technology and smartphone usage has increased considerably in our country as well as all over the world.
The Technology and Electronic Products Research conducted by Twentify in Turkey reveals data in many different areas such as the frequency of telephone changes, the interest of Turkish people in electronic devices and the household appliances that they cannot give up.
Smartphone replacement frequency varies
In a study conducted by DORinsight in 2016, the frequency of smartphone replacement in Turkey is 2. It was about 5 years. However, it seems that there has been an increase in the frequency of phone replacement with the changing economic conditions. Accordingly, the average of users in Turkey buying their latest phones is seen as 1.7 years.
As you can see from the table above, users in Turkey change an average of 4 phones in the last 10 years. According to another statistic, users bought their last phone an average of 1.7 years ago. Thirty percent of smartphone users purchased their last phone less than six months ago.
One of the questions asked in the research is about the motivations of users to renew their phones. Accordingly, 44 percent of users want to renew their phone when they have partial problems. 38 percent of them decide to renew their phones only when they are completely broken. Eight percent of them consider change when they get bored with their phone.
