A ledger is a business ledger that aggregates traditional or digital financial information and is used to prove individual transactions.
What is Registry (Ledger)?
As with traditional accounting methods, there is a working ledger in the blockchain ecosystem. In this ecosystem, where no retroactive information can be deleted or changed, all information is distributed to the Registry (Ledger). Distributed system means that information is stored in more than one copy, unlike the traditional method. Every stored information is cryptographically linked to each other. Therefore, it cannot be changed or deleted.
If necessary changes are made in the Registry (Ledger), the change is reflected in all copies, thanks to cryptography. Thus, information continues to be stored in an overlapping manner. The Ledger is a technological and high-security ledger in the blockchain, unlike traditional records.
Many countries and companies in the world have taken action to store official documents by using the Ledger with the blockchain method. An example of this is that Swedish banks work to collect operational information within a blockchain-based system. In addition, Estonia is the first state to carry out activities such as cyber security and electronic voting system on the basis of blockchain. China, Japan and some states of America are also working to benefit from this technology.
