Samsung’s Good Lock app has a significant fan base. But you may not have heard of the name before. If you have a Samsung phone and want to customize it, this app offers exactly what you want.
What is Samsung Good Lock?
Good Lock is a Samsung-made suite of apps that lets you redesign the interface look and feel of your Galaxy device. You can use this pack to customize almost every part of the phone like your homepage and lock screen, latest app layout, watch face, Quick Settings panel.
Perhaps the most important feature that distinguishes Good Lock from other customization apps is the number of options it has and the way these features work together very well. The changes you make to the app feel like they belong in One UI. Also, Samsung updates the app every year to support the latest version of One UI.
Good Lock is not available on Google Play Store and instead you have to download it from Samsung Galaxy Store which comes pre-installed on all Samsung devices. You can search for and install Good Lock by launching the Galaxy Store app.
If you don’t have a Galaxy phone but still want to use the app, you can use Fine Lock as a great alternative to Good Lock. This app is available in Play Store and offers the same features.
How to use Samsung Good Lock?
After downloading and opening Good Lock, the app will show you a list of downloadable modules (i.e. individual apps) like Home Up, LockStar, MultiStar. Each module targets a specific part of the software and contains settings to customize it.
When you press the download button on a module, you will be directed to the Galaxy Store to install its app. While this slows the process down a bit, it can be considered a plus for the app bundle as it doesn’t waste your storage space for modules you don’t intend to use.
Install the apps you find useful, give them the necessary permissions if prompted. Currently, Good Lock has 15 modules, but that number may change when updated to support new One UI versions in the future.
Best Samsung Good Lock modules
Some Good Lock modules are more useful than others, but you don’t have to download them all to get the most out of the app.
Home Up, for example, is the Good Lock module that many Samsung fans will recommend to you first. This module is in many ways the default personalization solution for Galaxy users and includes five different sets of settings such as Home screen, File, Backup & Recovery, Share manager and Task switcher.
Another module, LockStar, focuses on your lock screen. With this module, you can change the location of system icons such as clock, music tool, notification icons as you wish. Also, this module allows you to change the default shortcuts on the lock screen to any of the six apps you want.
The Wonderland module lets you choose a custom “live” wallpaper for your home screen and lock screen. After downloading this module, some preset examples are shown to make it easier for you to understand how it works, and then you can change these examples or create a completely new wallpaper if you want. With this module, you can even choose to overlay your regular, fixed wallpaper with a video.
Thanks to the Theme Park module, you can choose any color you want and prepare a special theme for your phone, and you can even choose to apply the changes only to different parts of the interface such as the keyboard, quick settings panel, sound panel.
One Hand Operation + module can be described as an enhanced version of the existing swipe gestures on Android. Normally, you’re limited to just three actions with swipe gestures: go back, go to home screen, and go to recents page. However, with One Hand Operation +, you can access 12 different commands by assigning six actions to each movement direction. A remarkable feature of this module is that it is available in the Play Store.
Of course, there are more modules than the ones listed here, but it’s up to you to try them and choose the ones you like best…
