We’ll likely see iOS 16 introduced at WWDC 2022 in June. So far, not many leaks have emerged about the new operating system. However, with the latest leak hinting at big changes, new ways to interact with widgets, and even some new Apple apps, we can say that the new operating system will be a pretty big update.
This information was revealed in the latest release of the Power On newsletter for Bloomberg by Mark Gurman, a journalist with a solid track record in Apple information.
Although Gurman has not given much detail, it is possible to speculate about some of the things he mentioned. At the beginning of these are the new Apple applications. On the new apps side, for example, it’s possible that this service is one of the apps, as evidence has already emerged that Apple is working on an Apple classical music streaming service alongside Apple Music. However, we may encounter some surprises as Gurman calls applications in the plural.
As for new ways of interaction, reference is made to previously leaked interactive widgets. There are currently widgets on iOS, but even if these widgets show information, it is not possible to interact with them. Generally, when you touch one of these widgets, the corresponding application is launched. Therefore, interactive widgets can be seen as new ways to interact with the phone.
Also, Gurman claims there will be “major system-wide changes.” This may include interactive widgets, but Gurman has previously said that iOS 16 “is going to be pretty good across the board, including notification updates and new health monitoring features.”
Gurman also talked about watchOS 9, saying that news about it at WWDC will be “significant”. So far, almost nothing has been heard about watchOS 9, but It seems that big changes are planned for the smartwatch from now on.
