What if All the Oceans, Seas and Lakes in the World Turned into Drinking Water? Rest assured, you would never want to!

Imagine a world where all ocean, sea and lake water is drinking water. At first hearing, it may sound good when you think that the water crisis will be resolved, but when you find out what could happen as a result, your mouth will fall open!

READING NOW What if All the Oceans, Seas and Lakes in the World Turned into Drinking Water? Rest assured, you would never want to!

The world is in an unbelievably orderly operation. If we change something about the ecosystem with an external touch, it has an effect like dominoes that can destroy every other order.

Today, water is frequently on the agenda due to the climate crisis and global warming. It is even said that there will be water wars in the future. What would happen if all the water on our planet turned into drinking water?

Whether we call it dominoes or the butterfly effect; we will understand the extent of this by what can happen when sea water is converted into drinking water.

Of course, it is not possible for fish, whose habitat is water, to live in an environment other than their own ecosystems. If the seas were turned into drinking water, in short, if there were no salt in the seas, this would cause the death of many fish. With the butterfly effect we mentioned, climates and temperatures would begin to change.

We wouldn’t have a chance to learn about undiscovered species.

About 228,450 species live in the oceans. Moreover, the estimated 2 million species have not even been discovered yet. Without salt in the oceans, we would never learn of the millions of species we haven’t discovered yet in the depths of the waters.

In fact, when you look at the image above, one does not think, “It seems like we don’t need to explore, actually…”.

We would be without oxygen and without food.

Algae, which are included in saltwater creatures, are responsible for half of the photosynthesis on Earth! As we know, this photosynthesis is vital in providing our planet with food and oxygen. In short, it allows us to breathe.

If the salty waters were turned into fresh water and the algae disappeared, much more carbon dioxide would be released into the atmosphere as well as lowering our oxygen levels. Well, that would have made some parts of the Earth unbearably hot due to the effect of greenhouse gases.

Another domino fell, this unbearable heat, causing the extinction of some plant species.

A drastic increase in temperature in certain parts of our world would have led to the extinction of the various plant species we now have. In other words, the food chain would begin to deteriorate and many species, including humans, would not survive.

Ocean currents could not circulate warm water and air currents as they used to.

currents; Colder waters from the north cool the warmer areas to the south, while the warmer waters move further north from the Equator. Warm waters in the equatorial region carry more salt.

This warmer water goes deeper, while the colder water stays at the top. The water cools down enough to freeze and form ice floes. As you can see, the climates are again surprised by what they are going through.

To sum up, if all the salty water on the planet were turned into fresh water, we would die before we could live very long!
