Our country's agenda has been politics for a while, but the elections we will hold on May 14 are important for all of us. Today, a flash development took place and the Chairman of the Country Party, Muharrem İnce, announced that he was withdrawing from the 13th presidential race. Alright what now?

The first question that came to our mind was, of course, what would happen to the already printed ballot papers waiting for 14 May. Muharrem İnce, who was announced on the YSK’s official candidate list, is still on the list of candidates despite withdrawing from the elections.

Therefore, this situation brings to mind two possibilities: Either the ballot papers will be reprinted or Muharrem İnce will continue to appear on the ballots.

According to Article 12 of the Presidential Election Law, İnce will remain on the ballot.

According to Article 12 of the relevant law; After the official candidate list is announced by the YSK in the elections, any decrease or change does not require any change. In other words, if Muharrem İnce had announced that he had withdrawn from the elections before the candidate list was announced, we would not have seen his name on the ballots.

However, at the moment, 249 million 670 thousand ballot papers have been printed and prepared. Since the official list has been announced and the printing process of these ballot papers has been completed, no changes will be made anymore.

Votes cast are also not considered invalid.

Saying “I’m withdrawing from the candidacy” since Muharrem İnce is still officially a candidate is like saying “You don’t need to vote for me, I don’t want it”. Because there is no such thing as not being able to vote; The votes cast will also be written on his own account.
