Researchers from the University of Colorado Boulder say these invisible splashes contain microscopic particles of urine and feces. The published video revealed that water droplets gushed into the air at a speed of 2 meters per second and rose to a height of about 1.5 meters.
It invites the spread of disease
The largest droplets tend to settle on surfaces within seconds, while smaller particles can remain suspended in the air for minutes or longer. These particles, which can carry pathogens such as coli, C. difficile, noroviruses and adenoviruses, are very dangerous for human health.
The situation in public restrooms is even more risky. Because even ten flushes is not enough to clean the toilet from the aerosol particles left behind by previous visitors. As a result, it should be a habit to keep the toilet seat closed while flushing the toilet.
