What Happens If Earth’s Core Cools?

It seems that the core of our Earth, which we thought was hot, continues to cool much faster than we thought. So what could this lead to? Let's take a look together.

Is the end of our Earth, the only habitable planet of the Solar System, approaching? It is obvious that the end of the world is not near, but it is getting closer day by day, because we humans are the ones who made it and its atmosphere uninhabitable, this is a fact. We are one of the factors that bring the end of the world closer, yes, but the Earth is also bringing its own end.

If you ask, “How?”, let’s answer right away. As you know, the Earth is a planet formed by the cooling of a piece from the Sun, and its core is still actively burning. But there is a handicap: The Earth’s core is cooling and is cooling much faster than previously thought. There are several reasons for this, such as the rotation of the Earth and the convectional dynamo in the center of the Earth. So why does the core cool faster and what could this cause?

As the core cools, it will transform into Earth, Mars, and Mercury

As the Earth’s core cools and will continue to cool, it will solidify and geological activities will cease. This will cause Earth to become a barren rock, just like Mars or Mercury. With a new research, it has been learned that the core cooling occurs much faster than expected.

This is thought to be due to a mineral found in the outer layer of iron and nickel in the Earth’s core and in molten fluid lava inside the core. This boundary mineral is called Bridgmanite and it conducts heat very quickly. For this reason, the heat inside the core spreads rapidly towards the outer layers.

Worse, the mineral named bridgmanite turns into another mineral called perovskite when it cools, and this mineral is a much more conductive material in terms of heat. For this reason, the cooling of the core is accelerated even more. There is, of course, no measurement unit at the moment to measure how fast the Earth is cooling, but it is thought that at least our generation will not see it.
