The electrification in the automotive market continues. Recently, many automobile manufacturers have started to keep up with the electric current in the sector by saying goodbye to internal combustion engines. One of the pioneers of this trend is Mercedes-Benz. Because the German manufacturer is the brand with the most electric vehicles in the market. In this context, the Mercedes-EQ models, which are becoming popular day by day, come to the fore and this series is launched as the Mercedes of Electricity.
What do Mercedes EQ models offer users?
With its fully electric car and technology brand Mercedes EQ, Mercedes-Benz promises users an electromobile ecosystem for details such as products, services, technology and innovation. Targeting the environmental pollution caused by the internal combustion engines used to date, Mercedes-EQ reduces carbon emissions to zero in its electric cars and adopts the motto of a cleaner world by using recycled materials.
In this sense, Mercedes-Benz is the brand with the most electric vehicles in the market. In the Mercedes EQ family of the company, 5 different models are offered, namely EQA, EQB, EQC, EQE and EQS, for different needs in different segments. For SUV lovers, compact SUV EQA, EQB with 7-seater option and EQC, the first electric member of the family, are offered, while EQE and EQS are offered for sporty sedan options. The range of the vehicles can vary according to their engine size and battery capacity and is between 403 and 649 km according to WLTP.
As it is known, the driving systems of electric cars include the electric motor, high-voltage battery, power electronics and charger. Thus, the vehicle can move by being powered by an electric motor that gets its electricity from a high-voltage battery. At this point, the vehicle’s battery is charged both externally from the electrical network and by energy recovery (recuperation) in braking while driving. The charging times of Mercedes-EQ models, which save energy with recovery, are also impressive. EQS, for example, can charge up to 80% of its capacity at fast charging stations (DC) in just 31 minutes. Apart from this, charging times in other models are between 31 and 40 minutes when calculated in minutes at fast charging stations.
The charging solutions Mercedes offers to its drivers are also quite diverse. Mercedes-EQ models charge quickly and reliably wherever you are and don’t let drivers down. Because one of the most suitable options here is the Mercedes Wallbox (wall charger unit for home). In this way, every journey can be started with a full battery charged by this small but smart charging station with 22 kW power.
Wallbox is not the only option for charging. If you haven’t bought this unit yet or if you want to charge my car in any place where there is a household socket, you will be given a standard charging cable (Mode 2). However, at this point, the company recommends the Wallbox unit, which offers faster charging than a traditional home socket for a better driver experience. Of course, public AC (alternating current) charging stations should not be bypassed. Because if you are away from home and your EQ model is about to run out of charge, you can easily take advantage of public charging networks as in other electric cars.
Finally, Mercedes-Benz has developed the “Electric Ready” mobile application for users who want to keep up with the electric car trend but do not yet own an electric vehicle. Available on both the Google Play Store and the App Store, the app helps you decide if you’re ready to switch to EQ mods. It also allows you to compare your current non-electric vehicle with electric vehicles and find out if it is suitable for your daily routine.
