Germany IT Security research institute AV-TEST has published the best antivirus and security software evaluation report for Windows 10 home users as of October 2021. In this report, the organization reviewed 21 different anti-malware software from various companies. Naturally, testing also included Microsoft’s Windows Defender. Moreover, Windows Defender received 18 points in this evaluation, earning the “AV-TEST Best Product” certification. Defender’s success can be better understood if we say that the total score is 18.
Still, Microsoft Defender wasn’t the only software to show this success. Of the 21 software that participated in the test, 15 more were able to get full points. Thus, security software such as Avira, AVAST, AVG, Bitdefender, ESET managed to obtain the same certificate. The rest of the products scored below 17.5 points and therefore did not qualify for certification.
The full 18-point score on the test consists of three categories with a maximum of six points each. These categories are protection, efficiency and usability.
