Western Digital brand, which has been working hard for years to both increase efficiency and increase capacities in hard disk technologies, announced its products with the highest capacity this week.
WD OptiNAND drives
The new drives developed by Western Digital are based on OptiNAND technology. Alongside the system-level hardware enhancements of OptiNAND is UltraSMR technology, which offers large block coding along with an advanced error correction algorithm that increases parts per inch (TPI) to provide higher capacity.
Asus ROG Strix SSD driver coming
Traditional CMR magnetic writing Disks based on the solution provide an areal density of 2.2TB per platter. Thus, the Ultrastar DC HC570 HDD drive, which reaches 22TB, is obtained. The 26TB Ultrastar DC HC670 uses the SMR magnetic writing solution, which reaches 2.6TB per platter.
22TB Ultrastar DC HC570 HDD and 26TB Ultrastar DC HC670 UltraSMR HDD started sampling to select hyperscale customers. In addition, the 22 TB Ultrastar DC HC570 HDD drive will be included in the Ultrastar Data60 and Data102 JBOD storage solutions. Again, 22TB CMR drives will be offered to smart video/security managements with WD Purple Pro HDD solutions.
