Apple is increasing screen shipments for the iPhone 14 series, which will be officially introduced on September 7. According to market analysts, Samsung Display has taken the lion’s share of the purchase, handling more than 80 percent of shipments to Apple over the past 3 months.

Apple aims to procure a total of 34 million iPhone 14 panels from its suppliers, including Samsung, LG Display and Chinese BOE. Apple bought more than 1.8 million iPhone 14 panels in June, 5.35 million in July, and more than 10 million in August. Apple is expected to order another 16.5 million panels in September.

The upcoming iPhone 14 series is expected to consist of 4 models, and Samsung Display will be the primary panel supplier for the vast majority of iPhones that Apple plans to produce.

Samsung Display is ahead of LG Display and BOE by leagues

Over the past 3 months, Apple has ordered more than 15 million iPhone 14 panels. During the June – August period, Samsung Display managed to meet 82 percent of iPhone 14 panel orders.

LG Display, on the other hand, ranked 2nd with 12 percent of orders. More specifically, LG will start shipping iPhone screens in September. Production capacity cannot meet Apple’s demand due to “technical difficulties”.

Finally, BOE fulfills 6 percent of all iPhone 14 panel orders. Relationships were suspended as the company recently changed Apple’s display design without notice, but Apple will continue to use BOE panels for cheaper iPhone models, as their panels are cheaper than those of Samsung and LG.

So far, Samsung has been the only supplier to Apple that sells iPhone 14 Pro Max panels. LG Display has yet to achieve this, but is expected to accompany Samsung until the end of September.
