WD sued over SanDisk SSDs
For those who don’t know, this issue with SanDisk Extreme, Extreme Portable, Extreme Pro Portable or WD MyPassport SSDs first appeared in May and was addressed by The Verge. In fact, SanDisk’s parent company, Western Digital (WD), said that only certain models (4TB SanDisk Extreme and 2TB Extreme Pro portable SSD) are problematic. Although a new update was shared after that, the current situation shows that many models are problematic.
Today, it was announced that Western Digital has been sued over problematic SanDisk and My Passport SSDs. In fact, the company is said to be facing multiple lawsuits. According to the class action filing in the US, current complaints consist of users who have purchased SanDisk Extreme Pro, Extreme Portable, Extreme Pro Portable and WD MyPassport SSDs since January 2023. It should be noted that this number is considerably higher.
On the other hand, WD has not shared an official statement about the current complaints. However, it should be noted that these SSDs continue to be sold with various discounts both in our country and in the global market. Therefore, we advise users to be careful.
