While allergies to various foods cause many people to choose their food carefully, a solution has come from the scientific world that can eliminate this situation. Scientists have discovered for the first time that peanut allergy can be ‘turned off’. This shutdown process was possible thanks to the reprogramming of a specific gene network in humans.

In the study, published in Allergy, the scientists worked with 62 children ages 1 to 10 with peanut allergies. The children were divided into two groups, the placebo group and those receiving probiotic therapy, including immune therapy. At the end of the 18-month study, 74% of those who received probiotic treatment showed regression of allergies. In the placebo group, this rate was 4%.

Probiotic therapy can also act alone:

In a separate study, only probiotics and probiotic immunotherapy methods were tested separately. In the results obtained, it was discovered that both methods were good against allergies. Children whose allergies were neutralized could now consume peanuts without any medication and without any doubt.

While the new research is big news for peanut allergy sufferers, it’s also an important step forward for other allergies. Scientists aim to develop long-term and more successful treatment methods against food allergies by examining the immune process, which plays a role in the loss of the effect of allergy.
