Although he does not invest directly in cryptocurrencies, the famous billionaire Warren Buffet has made significant investments in startups that he believes have potential in this field. His latest investment upset Visa and Mastercard.
Nubank investment from Warren Buffet
Brazilian Nubank, shown as Latin America’s largest bank, was listed on the New York stock exchange and reached a valuation of 41.5 billion dollars. Warren Buffet had invested $500 million prior to listing. Afterwards, it invested another 500 million dollars and reached 1 billion dollars. Berkeley Hathaway thus acquired a 10 percent stake.
Nubank’s acquisition of Easynvest initiative, which offers Bitcoin ETF in Brazil, is cited as one of the remarkable events. That’s what appealed to Warren Buffet. Moreover, it has also sold its 1.8 billion dollars Visa and 1.3 billion dollars Mastercard shares.
This shows that the famous investor will give more importance to digital assets in the future. Because the valuation of the startups in its portfolio, which was $ 24 billion, has now increased to $ 63 billion.
