Jason Kilar, who was appointed CEO of WarnerMedia by AT&T nearly two years ago, reported on Tuesday that he was stepping down from the company after the entertainment giant’s merger with Discovery ended. As Kilar prepares to leave the media company, he claims that blockchain technology is the future of Hollywood.

Kilar used the following statements:

“I have no intention of retiring, he says. As for where you can find me, he’s making something. At the end of the day, I will almost certainly be at the intersection of storytelling, technology and blockchain, as I enjoy building.”

Kilar’s tenure was marked by innovation, including the launch of HBO Max and hybrid movies, but also drama and fierce controversy.

Kilar’s career has spanned Silicon Valley and Hollywood, and she believes blockchain technology is transforming the entertainment industry, particularly as the process of acquiring digital collectibles (NFTs) like no other.

The veteran IT executive said in an interview with Reuters:

“I think this is going to be a potential wave coming to Hollywood, much like the DVD wave coming to Hollywood in the 90s.”

According to Kilar, blockchain technology could potentially pave the way for new types of financing. It has a long history of pushing the boundaries of technology and creativity in the entertainment industry.

Kilar said, “When we look at a digital point, blockchain will have a tangible impact on Hollywood and its potential collaborators.”
