Cybersecurity firm Unciphered claimed to have hacked the Trezor T model hardware crypto wallet manufactured by Satoshi Labs.
The firm claims to have extracted the wallet’s seed phrase by exploiting a hardware vulnerability that required the wallet to be physically compromised.
Unciphered Claims It Hacked Trezor T Hardware Wallet
Cybersecurity firm Unciphered showed how the Trezor T wallet was affected by the vulnerability in a video it shared on YouTube. In this attack, it is necessary to provide physical access to the device. Unciphered stated that it had previously carried out a similar attack on the Hong Kong-based OneKey wallet.
The attack method explained by cyber security firm Unciphered is possible if physical access is provided. The cybersecurity firm claims that they carried out the attack by extracting the wallet’s firmware and were eventually able to decipher the wallet’s pin seed expression.
Trezor has yet to respond to these allegations. However, Trezor acknowledged that the demonstration of Unciphered bears similarities to a vulnerability discovered by Kraken Security Labs researchers. Trezor stated that such attacks require physical theft of the hardware wallet.
