German aircraft manufacturer Volocopter has announced that its VoloConnect four-seat electric VTOL aircraft is one step closer to entering service. The company announced that the fixed-wing VoloConnect completed its maiden flight in May.
Made three successful flights
With a range of more than 96 kilometers and a speed of 250 km/h, VoloConnect remained in the air for 2 minutes and 14 seconds during its first flight. The company said the VoloConnect has all the planned aerodynamic and performance characteristics of the future commercial product.
Volocopter plans to launch VoloConnect in 2026, following the anticipated commercial launch of the shorter-range and low-speed VoloCity in 2024.
Electric plane Alia completed its 2250 km flight
The company says that VoloConnect, where it conducted tests such as low speed, high speed and engine failure for autonomous flights, successfully departed from its first three flights. It is stated that when eVTOL is completed, it may have an important position in service as an air taxi, especially in densely populated areas.
