Russia’s invasion of Ukraine launched on Thursday has ceased to be a war between two countries. With AMD and Intel’s suspension of chip supply to Russia, the closure of Apple Pay and Google Pay services, the crisis, which is reflected in the technology sector, is growing day by day.

Recently, German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen decided to stop production at its two factories in Germany for a few days due to the problems experienced in the supply of parts produced in Ukraine. France-based Renault, on the other hand, announced that it would suspend operations at its assembly plant in Russia.

Volkswagen also stopped the supply of automobiles to Russia

According to the information provided by the Russian state-affiliated RIA News Agency, Volkswagen temporarily stopped the delivery of vehicles to automobile dealers in Russia after the decision to suspend production. Although the reason behind the decision is not explained firsthand, Volkswagen is expected to clear the question mark in the coming days.

The Russia-Ukraine war hit not only the automobile market but also social media. Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, banned Russian-affiliated media outlets from advertising and making money on social media platforms on Saturday. Twitter also blocked the opening of new accounts in the country.

The reaction of the Russian Government to the successive decisions of the social media giants was not delayed. The Federal Information Technologies and Mass Media Supervision Agency (Roskomnadzor) sent a letter to Meta requesting that the censorship applied to Russian media be lifted, but when the company received a negative response, it partially restricted access to Facebook.

Putin’s administration blocked Twitter after Facebook. The Kremlin has banned access to the social media site from operators such as NetBlocks, Rostelecom, MTS, Beeline and MegaFon. Users in Russia can access banned platforms with VPN. While it is not yet known when the embargo will be lifted; It is estimated that the ban will continue as long as the war continues.
