Volkswagen has made a new statement that will delight electric car lovers. According to the statement, it was announced that the range of the MEB platform, which currently hosts models such as ID.4 and ID.3, will be increased to 700 km (435 miles). This will not affect cars currently on sale. With the make-ups, the models currently built on this platform will have a range of 700 km.
Volkswagen will launch ID Life and Aero B models that will be built on the MEB platform by 2025. With the new update, the newly introduced cars will have a range of 700 km according to WLTP values. According to EPA values in the USA, the range of the vehicle will be around 350 miles (560 km).
This update will not only extend the range of new electric cars. Currently, vehicles on the MEB platform can get a maximum of 125 kW fast charging. The new update will allow vehicles to have 200 kW fast charging. In this way, electric cars will be filled faster through fast charging stations.
As a result of the changes to be made on the platform, there will be some changes in the power of electric cars. Currently, the most performance vehicle of the platform can produce 299 horsepower and can complete 0-100 km / h acceleration in 6.2 seconds. With the new changes, the vehicles will be able to produce 350 horsepower and complete their 0-100 km/h acceleration in under 5.5 seconds.
