Many companies that want to create a sustainable future in transportation continue to make moves towards electric vehicles. The production of electric aircraft eVTOLs (electric vertical take-off and take-off vehicles), which we can see widely in the sky in the future, is expected to increase in the same way.
Now, a move has come from the Volkswagen Group, which is described as one of the largest automobile manufacturers in the world. Volkswagen Group China, a division of the company in China, introduced the prototype of the company’s electric aircraft and presented it to the world.
It will have a range of up to 200 km.
The company’s V.MO aircraft, also called the Fyling Tiger (Flying Tiger), was unveiled during China’s Year of the Tiger. The special black and gold design of the vehicle did not go unnoticed. In addition, the Flying Tiger, unveiled with its functional prototype, is 11.2 meters long and 10.6 meters wide.
In addition to these, it is stated that the vehicle, which can be described as a ‘flying taxi’, was created in partnership with the UK-based design firm tangerine and the Chinese aviation firm Sunward. It is reported that the vehicle, which will offer its users the opportunity to fly between cities in China, can carry four passengers with luggage and have a range of up to 200 km.
Stephan Wöllenstein, CEO of Volkswagen Group China, also said: “Through this pilot project, we have developed a premium product that will serve the needs of our tech-savvy Chinese customers. This takes Volkswagen’s longstanding fine engineering, design and innovative features to the next level. “V.MO is the first milestone in our exciting journey into urban air transport.”
According to the statements, the giant company plans to make several test flights of the current model this year. After this, it is stated that a further developed prototype will carry out more extensive test flights at the end of summer 2023. There is no word yet on when the vehicle will be released.
