CES, the consumer electronics fair organized by the Consumer Electronics Association in Las Vegas, Nevada every January, opens its doors to technology enthusiasts this year. Promotions and screenings have already started for the event, which will be held between 5 and 8 January. At this point, Volkswagen, one of the strongest players in the automotive market, introduced the ID.7 electric sedan model with camouflage.

What does the electric Volkswagen ID.7 offer drivers?

Volkswagen introduced the ID.7 electric sedan model with camouflage before CES 2023. The digital camouflage used in the car, which is not yet at the stage to reach the end consumer, draws a lot of attention. The camouflage in question was not randomly generated, according to the company’s press release. At this point, 40 coats of paint were applied to create light effects in some parts of the vehicle. On the other hand, QR codes on the hood and doors of the vehicle allow authorized users to check the paints via their phones.

The Volkswagen ID.7 is based on the Aero3 concept sedan that debuted last year and is expected to reach an all-electric range of 700 km. Apart from that, the car is based on the same MEB platform that underpins the ID.4 SUV and ID.Buzz van, with a wheelbase of 116.9 inches (2.97 metres).

Volkswagen Passenger Car CEO Thomas Schäfer used the following statements about ID.7;

“With the new ID.7, we are expanding our electric model range to the upper segments. The ID.7 will offer world-class technology and quality. The ID.7 is one of 10 new electric models we plan to launch by 2026.”

Technical details about the car are not enough for now. However, Volkswagen is preparing to launch the ID.7 with its augmented reality head-up display, 15-inch central infotainment screen, digitally controlled air and heating systems that can be personalized for each passenger and respond to each passenger by receiving voice commands. The company has not yet specified when production will begin, but has confirmed that it will go on sale in the Chinese, European and North American markets in the future.
