In the last days of July, Volkswagen shared its second quarter results with us. The company, which achieved significant sales success compared to the previous year with the brands included in it, especially the increase in the sales of electric cars drew attention.
Volkswagen increased its electric car sales by 53 percent
Volkswagen Group reported global vehicle sales of 2,331,500 in the second quarter of 2023. The company, which includes brands such as Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Skoda, Seat, Cupra, Lamborghini, Bentley, Ducati, MAN and Scania, increased its sales by 18 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
In addition, the company, which sold 4 million 372 thousand 200 vehicles in total in the first half of the year, showed an improvement of 12.8 percent compared to 2022 in this sense. Volkswagen had a more successful year than last year in every sense, and the increase in sales of electric vehicles is quite remarkable.
Volkswagen Group sold 180,600 fully electric vehicles in the second quarter. The Wolfsburg-based giant automobile company thus increased its sales by 53 percent last year. With these figures, the company had its most successful year in electric vehicles.
In the company, which has reached a figure exceeding 180 thousand in total, Volkswagen showed the highest sales of electric cars with 94 thousand 800 units. Volkswagen is followed by Audi with 41 thousand 100 units and Skoda with 18 thousand 900 sales. While Seat/Cupra sold 9,700 vehicles in total, Porsche sold 8,839 last quarter.
