Vehicles being recalled due to airbag issue

Brands keep this issue very tight, especially in matters that may threaten the security of users. Finally, Volkswagen and Audi decided to recall 1,216 vehicles due to a problem detected in airbags.

Volkswagen Group states that it has recalled its vehicles due to the concern that the airbags will explode unintentionally and particles that will harm the people in the vehicle during this explosion are dispersed into the environment. It has been determined that the vehicles in question were produced in 2016.

It is stated that the 2016 Audi A3 Cabriolet, A3 E-Tron, A3 Sedan, R8, S3 Sedan, TT Coupe, TT Roadster, Volkswagen E-Golf, Golf, Golf GTI, Golf R and Golf Estate models are affected by the situation. Accordingly, the aforementioned models will be recalled to authorized dealers and necessary actions will be taken.

The problem experienced brought to mind Takata airbags. However, it is stated that the incident was not caused by Takata airbags, which have negatively affected the automotive industry for a long time. It seems that the problem is limited to Volkswagen and Audi brands.

It was stated that the front passenger airbag module of the recalled vehicles will be completely replaced. As with all recalls, this will be done free of charge. Volkswagen and Audi will call the owners of the affected vehicles to the service centers as of September 23, 2022.
